New Law Will Save Lives on PA Roads

We are excited to announce Pennsylvania joins 21 other states who have passed Slow Down to Get Around laws. The new Slow Down to Get Around provision was passed unanimously by the Pennsylvania General Assembly and signed into law October 19, 2018 as part of Act 83 of 2018. The law requires motorists approaching and passing a stationary solid waste collection vehicle to reduce and maintain a safe speed for weather, road conditions and traffic in order to proceed with due care and caution. The law also provides for the use and display of yellow strobe lights that can be seen by traffic in both directions.

Waste and recycling collection continues to be one of the top five most dangerous jobs in America. Please remember to Slow Down Before You Go Around to ensure the safety of our team members.

Thank you to PWIA for helping to get this important legislation passed.
