Collection Update: Good Friday 2017

Friday, April 14, 2017: All Penn Waste routes will be running on schedule on Good Friday.

Penn Waste Partners with Salem Square Library and the Salvation Army

As part of our core values at Penn Waste, we are committed to giving back to the communities we service. This month we’re highlighting two organizations Penn Waste supports – Salem Square Library and the Salvation Army.

Penn Waste was proud to partner with York County Libraries and the Salem Square Community Association to bring a new library to downtown York’s Salem Square Community. In addition, Penn Waste teamed up with the Salvation Army to be a Lunch Sponsor for their Annual “Boots & Bags” luncheon. The event features a silent auction, fashion show, and lots of other fun activities on Friday, May 5, 2017. Wanted: Cardboard

Cardboard comes in all shapes and sizes. Penn Waste accepts all cardboard of any size and quantity.

Most people think of shipping boxes when they hear the word “cardboard,” however cardboard is so much more than just boxes.

Cardboard found on the inside of paper towel and toilet paper rolls is recyclable. The cardboard packaging that your garbage bags come in is recyclable. The cardboard from your tissue boxes is recyclable. To sum it up, if it is cardboard, it is recyclable.

We ask our customers to keep in mind three easy steps when it comes time to recycle your cardboard.

• Remove all packaging inside the box (such as packing peanuts, bubble wrap, etc).
• Flatten ALL boxes. If your box does not fit in your recycle bin or mobile cart, please tie them together with string to prevent them from blowing away.
• Check the weather. If the weather calls for high winds or rain, keep your recycling inside until the following week, if possible. Wet cardboard products are more difficult to process.

Aside from cardboard, Penn Waste accepts paperboard and paper products as part of the recyclables we collect. For example, junk mail, newspapers, magazines, newspaper inserts, and envelopes are all considered recyclables.

Collection Update: 3/16/17 – On Schedule

Thursday, March 16, 2017 – All Penn Waste routes will be operating on schedule on Thursday, March 16, 2017. For any areas that are not accessible for collection, we will accept double the normal volume on your next regularly scheduled collection day.

For Tuesday and Wednesday routes that were missed due to the inclement weather, we will accept double the normal volume on your next regularly scheduled collection day as well.

Collection Update: Inclement Weather 3/15/17 – Routes Cancelled

Wednesday, March 15, 2017 –  Due to inclement weather, all Penn Waste routes will be cancelled on Wednesday, 3/15/17. Tuesday and Wednesday customers may place double the normal limit curbside on their next regularly scheduled collection day.
