Holiday Cooking & Recycling – Metals
PostedIt’s almost here. Thanksgiving is Thursday! Have you begun your shopping yet? If you have, did you know that there are plenty of packaging products that may be recycled? If you haven’t already completed your shopping, be sure to look out for some of the products listed below! For more information on recycling with your holiday cooking, keep reading!
Over the past couple weeks, we have covered recycling paper and plastic products while holiday cooking. This week, we are going to focus on metal products that may be tossed in your recycling bin this Thanksgiving. Here are some examples:
- Pumpkin Pie or other pie filling cans
- Vegetable cans
- Soda and Beer cans
- Cooking Spray cans
- Cleaning supply cans
- Aluminum disposable dishes
You may not have realized that aluminum dishes, such as the one pictured, are in fact recyclable. It is important to remember that they may be recycled if they are clean. Rinse them out before tossing them in your recycling bin.
While preparing your thanksgiving meal, be sure to look out for the listed products above or others that can be placed in your recycling bin. When it comes time to toss these items in your recycling bin, be sure to clean the cans out. To save on space, if the item is crushable, consider crushing the can. All of these tips can help ensure that you are recycling to your fullest potential. Remember, we accept unlimited recycling so be sure to recycle as much as you can!

Thanks so much for the reminder of the metal products we can recycle. With all this holiday cooking and entertaining it makes me feel better if I can recycle the pie tins, cooking spray cans and soda cans!
