Cyber Monday and Cardboard Recycling

Did you know that Fedex is estimating that they will ship 85 million packages this week? On Cyber Monday alone, they expect to ship more than 22 million packages. So your package arrives and you open it to make sure all of your order is accounted for. What do you do with your cardboard box? Be sure to recycle it this year!

Here at Penn Waste, we accept any size and any quantity of cardboard. Aside from this we accept an unlimited amount of recyclables curbside. Here are some tips to ensure that you are recycling cardboard to your fullest potential:

  • Ensure that the cardboard is clean (not stained by foods or oils). We will accept some stains, but the less stains, the better.
  • Flatten your cardboard. This will save space, allowing for you to recycle more.
  • Keep it inside until your next collection day. This will ensure that it stays dry.

Be sure to recycle as much as you can with this holiday shopping season. For more information on recycling, please visit our recycling page. Stay up to date on recycling tips and collection updates by liking our Facebook page, following us on Twitter and signing up for our E-News Updates.

  1. i have question? Garden chemicals, lawn fertilizer, flower and garden fertilizer, granules mostly. How do i dispose of. Where at etc. special instructions?

    • Great question! Penn Waste is unable to collect these items via curbside collection as they may be considered hazardous waste. The best course of action is to contact your local solid waste authority. For more information, please visit our FAQs page here and scroll down to the section on chemicals and other hazardous material.
